Teeth Whitening
Before Treatment
- Sensitivity: Use a desensitizing toothpaste for a week before the treatment if you have sensitive teeth.
- Scaling: Professional cleaning 2-3 days prior gives the best results.
- Realistic Expectations: Understand that fillings and crowns will not change color.
- Time: Allocate about 45-60 minutes for the in-office procedure.
- Lip Protection: The dentist will apply a barrier to your gums; inform them if it feels hot.
After Care
- The "White Diet": For 48 hours, eat only white foods (rice, milk, curd, chicken).
- Avoid Stains: Strictly avoid tea, coffee, red wine, turmeric, and soy sauce for 2 days.
- No Smoking: Smoking immediately after whitening will stain teeth worse than before.
- Sensitivity: Teeth may be sensitive to cold air/water for 24 hours; this is temporary.
- Touch-ups: Use the prescribed home-whitening kit if provided for maintenance.
