Orthodontic Braces
Before Treatment
- Deep Cleaning: Get a full professional scaling done to remove all tartar.
- Fillings: Complete any necessary fillings before the braces are glued on.
- Lip Balm: Apply lip balm, as your lips may get dry during the bonding process.
- Photos: Be ready for "Before" photos and X-rays for record-keeping.
- Meal: Eat a meal you enjoy, as your teeth might be sore for a day or two after.
After Care
- Ulcers: Apply orthodontic wax to any bracket that is poking your cheek/lip.
- Cut Food: Cut apples, guavas, and burgers into small pieces; do not bite with front teeth.
- Prohibited Foods: Avoid popcorn, sticky chocolates, and whole nuts that can break brackets.
- Cleaning: Use an orthodontic brush (interdental brush) to clean between the wire and teeth.
- Soreness: Take a mild painkiller if your teeth ache after a tightening adjustment.
