Before Treatment

  1. Anesthesia: Be prepared for local anesthesia to numb the gums.
  2. History: Inform the dentist about any family history of gum disease.
  3. Smoking: Reduce or stop smoking to allow gum healing.
  4. Medication: Inform if you are on aspirin or other blood thinners.
  5. Meal: Eat a light meal before the procedure.

After Care

  1. Gentle Brushing: Use an ultra-soft toothbrush on the treated area.
  2. Salt Water: Rinse with warm salt water 3 times a day to speed up healing.
  3. Sensitivity: Root surfaces may be sensitive; use desensitizing toothpaste.
  4. Interdental Aids: Use dental floss or interdental brushes once the gums have healed.
  5. Regular Visits: You will need maintenance cleanings every 3-4 months.
