Dental Crown (Cap)

Before Treatment

  1. Cleaning: Ensure your teeth are clean before the measurement (impression) appointment.
  2. Gag Reflex: If you have a strong gag reflex (vomiting sensation), tell the doctor beforehand.
  3. Breathing: Practice breathing through your nose, as your mouth will be open for a few minutes.
  4. Shade Selection: Think about how white you want the new tooth to be (to match others).
  5. Time: Set aside 30-45 minutes for the precision measurement process.

After Care

  1. Avoid Sticky Food: Avoid chewing gum, caramel, or sticky candies that can pull the crown out.
  2. Adjustment Period: It may feel "high" or uncomfortable for 1-2 days; this is normal.
  3. Flossing: Floss carefully around the crown; pull the floss out to the side, not up.
  4. Bite Check: If the tooth hurts when biting down after 2 days, return for a minor adjustment.
  5. Hard Foods: Do not use the crowned tooth to open bottles or crack hard nuts.
